Clear Wall of Dreams (CWD) aims to improve the living conditions, especially of children, young people and women in so-called “informal settlements” by primarily clearing communities of harmful waste, producing new products from it and at the same time creating short-term and medium-term jobs be created.

CWD inspires and motivates communities to eliminate some of the existing barriers by developing clean and environmentally friendly alternatives, such as reusing and/or recycling the materials on site to create sustainable mechanisms that, for example, use waste to build new facilities (such as buildings and toilets) or the development of products. With this approach from our partners CWD, we would like to start creating a world without plastic or similar waste, thereby establishing a circular economy and thus improving living conditions in these communities. As an organization, CWD’s goal is to become independent of donations and to generate its own income in order to continue implementing the great projects and projects in Uganda’s capital Kampala. All of this without being dependent on other organizations (like us). The plan is now to set up various business lines in the future to provide CWD employees with a steady income:

We have been working closely with the Clear Wall of Dreams (CWD) organization in Kampala for about a year. The aim of the collaboration is to reduce the plastic problem and thus gradually establish a circular economy in the community over 3 project phases. Before the appropriate machines for plastic recycling can be purchased, after a month-long lockdown, the first step is to get the partner organization onto an independently sustainable economic basis using a value-adding approach. The two have already been able to set up a small “hardware store” where they rent out wheelbarrows and shovels. We would now like to work together to expand this as a decentralized equipment and building materials trade so that both of them generate enough income. This involves, among other things, purchasing new building materials/tools that are then sold or rented out for a profit. Part of the income is used to purchase additional building materials/tools and to produce other value-added products, such as sustainably produced soap and cleaning products, and then to distribute these in a value-added manner (thus the people who live in these communities can also… Access to hygiene can be guaranteed during pandemic times).

Construction projects for communities & organizations

The founders of Clear Wall of Dreams (CWD) Ashie and Akongo have been involved in their communities for many years with other organizations and have helped with local projects to improve local living conditions. In 2018, the two founders began to implement more and more of their own ideas and projects. This includes careful planning, communication and local participation of initiatives and projects to help reduce the plastic problem in Uganda’s capital Kampala in the short term and establish a circular economy in the long term. Already successful projects such as the construction of improved sanitary facilities now give many people in the so-called “slum areas” access to hygienic toilets and washrooms. For example, empty plastic bottles are stuffed with plastic bags here (around 150 plastic bags fit into a small plastic bottle). These are very hard and can be used as a brick replacement for walling. We are sure that, especially in these times, we can make a valuable contribution to self-help (with your support) to support these great projects. But see for yourself:
